The implementation period of the project is January 2026 – January 2027.
The project explores the watchmaking craft as an element of intangible cultural heritage in the South Central Region of Bulgaria, including Plovdiv, Asenovgrad, Pazardzhik, Haskovo and Stamboliyski.
The core activities include field research documenting the work, tools, techniques, and personal stories of practicing watchmakers in the region. The collected materials form the basis for the creation of an authorial book, published in both printed and digital formats, combining research texts with visual documentation.A photographic exhibition presents selected portraits, workshops, and details of the craft, offering a visual interpretation of contemporary watchmaking practices.
The project also includes public presentations aimed at engaging diverse audiences and encouraging dialogue on the preservation of traditional crafts. An educational workshop for children introduces younger participants to the fundamentals of watchmaking and raises awareness of traditional skills, craftsmanship, and cultural heritage through interactive learning.Through these activities, the project contributes to the documentation, visibility, and transmission of the watchmaking craft as a living cultural practice.
